Adjeng's year-long wait is over. She was married to Rodrin tonight in a beautiful ceremony held at the Sapphire Ballroom at Crowne Plaza.

I arrived at 530pm and headed to the very suite where we had laughs and room service the night before (with Tegs, the Maid of Honor). It was fun. Our last bonding moment with Adjeng as a Sarmiento.

As soon as I arrived, I changed into my dreaded gown and we had some picture-taking. I kept joking Adjeng and tita Edna (her mom) that Rodrin still hadn't asked me for permission to marry Adjeng. I even tried calling him on his cellphone to kid him about it one last time but it was off.

A few minutes before our march, Tegs asked me to accompany her to the ballroom to give Rodrin the
wedding rings. We found him seated with Adam (of Wink) and co. So I said "Uy Rodrin...hindi ka pa rin nagpapa-alam" to which he quickly replied "Uy Karin puwede ko ba pakasalan si Adjeng?" I was caught off-guard and nearly cried. I didn't expect that from Rodrin, even if all this time I was just teasing. He asked...so it really was time to let my Adjeng go.

for everyone

Note: This woman spearheaded a beautiful bridal shower for me, and yes, it was simply wonderful.  What a joy that she has been able to share her thoughts about me and Rodrin in this blog entry.  Thank you, Myla, for being so genuine and supportive! I have always been open about my appreciation for you and your kind heart! We claim your prayers for us, as we stand in prayer and faith with you for your every dream! - Adjeng

The day Adjeng joined my small group almost two years ago, I knew immediately that she was a kindred spirit. As soon as she whipped out a notebook and started taking down notes during our discussion, I thought, “Aha, here is a fellow writer and scholar.” And when she realized I was reading aloud from a journal filled with devotional articles I’d pasted onto the pages, she said, “Oh my gosh, Myla! I do that, too!” Then I said to myself, “Here is someone who spends time in reflection, and recognizes significant thoughts and moments, like I do.”

But I later discovered that when it came to documenting our lives on Multiply, Adjeng was way ahead of the pack - no contest! I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say she posts a blog on her site every two or three days.

So I really should not have been surprised when, upon their engagement, Adjeng and Rodrin proceeded to post blogs and photo albums about virtually every aspect of their engagement. Still, I was completely unprepared when Adjeng told me they were coming up with a “wedsite.” A WEDsite?! How ingenious! I should have known…!

In her book, “What is a Family?” Edith Schaeffer points out,

“Someone has to create family memories and undertake the wondrous task of having the family become a work of art.

Someone has to be the nest maker and interior decorator.

Someone has to take time to pray and plan surprises.

Someone must see the family as worth fighting for, worth calling a career, worth the hard work of training a child in godliness, worth the relentless tasks involved in running a home.”

That someone HAS to be Adjeng – but what’s great is that she already IS that someone! And what’s even more wonderful is that even now, Rodrin is that way, too – a nest maker, interior decorator, prayer warrior, and a surprise-planner (you all know the one about how Rodrin proposed to Adjeng, right?).

If they would pour just half the amount of energy, creativity, excitement and joy into their marriage as they have into their wedding preparations and Multiply sites, by the grace of God, their family will become a work of art.

Adjeng and Rodrin, have a blast creating family memories – and keep us updated on Multiply!

Myla
